GT Leadership I is a year long elective class open to all identified 9th and 10th grade students. GT Leadership 1 is focused on connecting college to high school experiences by looking inward, looking outward, and looking forward towards the future. The curriculum is specifically designed to create opportunities where students are challenged to think critically, explore, create, develop, and become independent thinkers and leaders. Students will have an opportunity to learn 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, community and citizenship, and compassion and character.  This course is a hands-on, project-based approach to leadership and college preparation, with an emphasis on the whole child. Students will meet the district speech requirement with this course.

GT Leadership II is a semester honors elective  class open to all identified 10th and 11th grade students.  In GT Leadership 2, students are provided with a unique opportunity to cultivate professionalism, leadership skills, project planning and time management. This course emphasizes the practical application of these skills while fostering a strong sense of community engagement and global awareness. By participating in a variety of service projects, students will not only address the needs of their local community but also gain a profound understanding of their roles as responsible citizens and leaders.

*+Independent Study Mentorship (ISM) Honors (11-12) #4920 & #4921

This course is open to eleventh and twelfth grade students identified for Gifted and Talented services and those who are in honors/Advanced classes. ISM students conduct comprehensive research resulting in an original product or performance. Students pursue an area of special interest under the guidance of a mentor for a full year. At the end of the year, students must do a presentation and product display to an invited audience including a panel of experts from the selected field of study.  Students learn task commitment and time management as prerequisites to completing successful projects. Productive questioning strategies, critical thinking, time management, and techniques for performing high-level research are taught in this course. Students needing to meet the district speech requirement may receive it with this course.

Personal transportation to mentoring sites;

Honors level work

Application approval required.
