NWC Families,
December is here, bringing joy and excitement for our students! Our calendar below highlights a variety of fun activities planned for this month. Winter parties will be held on December 20th for students only. While families cannot attend, we invite you to join other parent involvement opportunities happening after school throughout December.
As we wrap up the first half of the school year, let’s celebrate our Cardinals growth. Take a moment to reflect on their academic achievements and share in their success!
I'll continue to share monthly bulletins on our school website and Facebook. Your child’s teacher will also email these updates directly to you. Visit our website through the NISD homepage at https://nisd.net/northwestcrossing/ for more information. If you have any questions or need support, please contact our front office at 210-397-0600.
Love,
Mrs. Siano and Mrs. Chapa

Meeting Dates

Attendance is extremely important for all students to be successful in school. The school day begins at 7:45 a.m. It is recommended that all children arrive by 7:40 a.m. Children arriving after 7:45 a.m. are tardy . A child who is not present at 9:00 a.m. is counted absent for the day. All students must bring a note when they return from an absence. If the student does not bring a note the absence is counted as unexcused.
PERFECT ATTENDANCE:
Students who have not exceeded one tardy or one partial day absence during the 9 week period that is not categorized as a documented appointment with a healthcare professional will be recognized for perfect attendance.
In order to receive a perfect attendance recognition at the end of the year, students may have no more than 4 tardies or 4 partial day absences during the year that are not categorized as a documented appointment with a healthcare professional. See Student /Parent Handbook.
EARLY PICK-UP:
If your child must leave school earlier than 3:00 p.m., parents must come to the school office and sign their child out. Students will only be released to parents/Individuals listed in HAC at the time of registration and proper identification will be required. For the safety of all children, we will not release students to individuals who are not listed on HAC or individuals who do not have proper ID. It is therefore important for parents to update contact information on HAC as changes occur. This can be done by emailing your child's teacher or visiting the front office with valid ID. Please note that an Early Sign-Out is considered a partial-day absence.
We welcome parents and guests on our campus. For the safety of our students, all parents, visitors and volunteers must register through the front office using the Raptor Visitor Tracking System between 7:00 am -3:00 pm. Picture ID is Required to be scanned by our office staff; a photo ID will be generated that must be worn while on campus and turned in upon exiting the campus. The process takes a matter of seconds. All visitors must enter and exit through the front office doors. All other doors are locked during the school day and are not to be used. Thank you for your full cooperation which helps to ensure the safety of all of our students.
Breakfast/Lunch Visitors: Parents can eat lunch with their child at our picnic area.
Parents are encouraged to volunteer their time at school. If you are interested in serving as a parent volunteer you must complete a volunteer background check form and contact PTA. This form can be found online at http://www.nisd.net/schools/volunteer. All volunteers must be cleared prior to serving as a parent volunteer.
We kindly ask that you take a moment to review our District's dress code policy with your child. Ensuring that all students adhere to the dress code helps create a positive and respectful learning environment for everyone.
You can find the dress code guidelines by clicking on this link: Guidelines for the new dress and grooming policy. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping our students shine bright every day!
NWC is committed to keeping our students, staff, and community safe. We want to make you aware of several guidelines in place at our school. Visitors to our campus should plan and prepare for increased security measures. Please be patient and expect to be asked where your visitor badge is (if not wearing one) and your reason for being in the building. Some points to follow and be aware of when visiting a campus:
- Always enter through the main entrance this is where our security lobby is located.
- Be prepared to provide your credentials, license, and/or identification card and reason for entering the building. A visitor badge will only be provided after getting clearance through Raptor or a records review.
- Always keep your visitor badge visible for staff to see.
While in the building if you “see something, say something” – whether it be to your child’s teacher, any NISD staff member wearing a NISD issued badge, or reporting it on NWC's See it, Hear it, Report it form being sent to you via email.
NISD also has a Safeline (210-397-7233) to report any suspicious behavior 24/7. We also have a police officer that patrols our school. Additionally, we have security cameras on our campus.
Please help us keep our Cardinals safe!
In Northside, the safety of our students and staff is one of our top priorities. We regularly review and revise our safety plans and procedures to enhance security. Keeping our schools safe requires continuous work and communication with our students, staff, and families. Our approach to safety focuses on three areas - our people, our facilities and technology, and our procedures. For more information, please visit our District safety webpage.
