By fourth grade, students are becoming more independent in their learning. They're starting to take more responsibility for their work and are often eager to explore new topics on their own. They're not just learning the basics anymore, but are starting to understand more complex concepts, especially in subjects like math, reading, and science. This is often the year when students transition from learning to read, to reading to learn. Fourth graders are becoming more socially aware. They're starting to understand more about friendships, teamwork, and empathy.
