He has been with NISD his entire career, which began in 2008 as an elementary special education teacher. After spending several years in elementary education, he decided to transition to middle school in 2012, where he discovered his passion for teaching at the middle school level.

In 2014, Richard accepted the Special Education Support Specialist position, providing behavioral support across the district for six years, including Zachry Middle School. In 2020, Richard decided to return to a campus setting and became an administrative intern at Holmgreen/Jordan MS, later becoming the Assistant Principal for Zachry Middle School. A unique opportunity then arose, leading him to become the Associate Principal at Zachry.

Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to serving the Zachry/Zachry Magnet community and believes in the potential of its students. He views the time spent at Zachry as vital in developing students into productive members of society and is committed to working tirelessly alongside stakeholders to ensure educational success.

Richard graduated from UTSA with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and earned a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University. He is married to his wife, Adriana, and has three wonderful kids: Richard "RJ", Hailey, and Alayna. They enjoy embarking on road trips and embracing life's adventures together.
