I had the amazing opportunity to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Education while studying in Australia. I later earned two Master’s degrees in Education, one focus being on Educational Technology and the other degree being in Educational Leadership. My love for learning and growing continues to this day, as I continue to apply my love for learning and work toward other educational accomplishments. It keeps me busy, but I wouldn’t want it any other way!
I have experience teaching Kindergarten - 8th grade and have taught most of those different grade levels over the past 25 years in the field of education, leaving a positive impact on students, teachers and the community. I began my educational career as a classroom teacher and taught in Australia, Alabama and Texas. Throughout my career I have gained numerous experiences and opportunities that have allowed me to be an educational advocate and have an unwavering commitment to student success regardless of my position.
My teaching career in Northside includes opening Nichols elementary and later moving to Beard Elementary. Michael Elementary is where I served as a Vice Principal for 3 years and then I had the privilege of serving as Principal at Fernandez Elementary and Blattman Elementary for the last 8 years. It is my pleasure and honor to be serving you as the Principal at Katie Reed Elementary!
Throughout my extensive career, my educational philosophy and guiding light is centered around the principle of “what’s best for kids”. This guiding belief informs every decision that I make from curriculum to staff training, safety and health or academics and student achievement. Working with our community, parents and teachers we are able to create a partnership that focuses on making child centered decisions for all our students at Reed Elementary.
My focus is to ensure that the needs and well-being of students are always at the forefront of every decision that is made. I believe every child deserves the very best we can give them as educators…….Why?? ….because they deserve it!! Our children are our future!!
If you ever have a concern, please reach out. I am always available to listen and support our parents, students and staff, as honest, open communication and collaboration is important to build our school community.

Greetings, Reed Roadrunners! I am thrilled to join this amazing community as your new Associate Principal at Reed Elementary. This marks the beginning of my 18th year in the remarkable Northside district.
I am deeply committed to building strong relationships and recognize the profound impact they have both inside and outside the classroom. Over the years, I’ve experienced the immense value of collaboration with parents and staff, and I believe it is key to creating a supportive environment for our students. My top priority is ensuring every student feels valued and develops a lifelong love for learning.
I am excited to work together with the Reed staff and parents to make this school year an incredible success!
