PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Happy Friday Raiders.
I hope that everyone was able to stay warm during the winter freeze this week and that you enjoyed the extra day off. We were happy to see students back on campus on Wednesday. I understand the temperatures were very low and very cold. I also want to reiterate the importance of coming to school every day. School attendance is key to your student's educational success. If you have questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the campus so that we can get you in touch with the right department to help. We are here to serve.
I want to congratulate our 7th-grade girls basketball team for winning their division this year. Great job ladies. You've made all Raiders proud of your hard work and dedication throughout the season. Tournament play will begin for boys and girls on February 7th. More information will be distributed by the end of next week concerning game locations and times.
Have a great weekend and we'll see everyone on Monday.
Sphero Dash Challenge
Our 7th grade GT students participated in the Sphero Dash Challenge. They were tasked with building a distribution vehicle using only the items available for purchase on a $30 budget. They had 2 minutes to transport as many packages (marbles) as possible using their Sphero coding program. Students received 1 point for each marble transported to the landing zone and a ½ point for each dollar they did not spend. Our winner from 3rd period was Noah C. with 46 points, and our winner from 4th period was Brad B. with 36.5 points. Olivia F. won the distribution vehicle decorating contest! Way to go 7th grade! Proud of you!
8th Grade Transition
On January 29th, our 8th graders will receive a special presentation from the John Jay Counselors. This guidance session will focus on the courses offered at the high school level and will guide students in making their course selections for next year. Students will receive this lesson through their AVID, Innovative Thinkers 3, or Comm Apps class. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to the counseling office.
