National Red Ribbon Week honors the ultimate sacrifice made by U.S. Drug Enforcement Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. In 1988, Congress officially proclaimed the last week of October as Red Ribbon Week in honor of this brave American’s life. He made a difference by helping to fight illegal drugs. Today, schools and other organizations across the United States use this time to spread the important message about living a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle.
The theme for this year is:
“Send a message. Stay drug free.”
- Monday “Rally in RED against drugs”: Let’s kick off Red Ribbon Week by wearing RED from head to toe...shirts, pants, socks, bandanas, even hats!
- Tuesday “My Future Matters- Be Drug Free!”: Wear a COLLEGE or MILITARY shirt!
- Wednesday “Put a cap on drugs”: Students will wear their favorite cap or hat.
- Thursday “Team Up Against Drugs”: We are in this fight together! Wear your favorite sports shirt/jersey to show you’re a team player.
- Friday “Drug Free...Show Your Character”: Dress up as your favorite book character for the character parade!

What is Constitution Day? On September 17, 1787, the U.S. Constitution was signed by thirty-nine brave men who changed the course of history. Today, Constitution Day is a time for us to continue their legacy and develop habits of citizenship in a new generation of Americans.
We encourage students to participate as we celebrate our freedom at Raba Elementary!
Monday: “School Spirit Day”- Students may wear their Raba Shirt to show pride in our school!
Tuesday: “Stars & Stripes Day”- Students may wear stars and/or stripes. The stars represent our 50 states and the stripes represent the 13 British Colonies that declared independence from Great Britain.
Wednesday: “Red, White, & Blue Day”- Students may wear red, white, and blue. The red on our flag signifies hardiness and valor, the white signifies innocence and purity, and the blue signifies vigilance, perseverance, and justice.
Thursday: “Supporting our Troops Day”- Students may wear camouflage to show support for our American military troops.
Friday: “College Spirit Day”- Students may wear their favorite college or university spirit shirts in celebration of our freedom to attend colleges and universities!
