Northside ISD Students Shine in the 2025 Texas Cavaliers River Parade Art Contest

Creativity is shining at Northside ISD! Our talented elementary students competed in the prestigious 2025 Texas Cavaliers River Parade Art Contest, standing out among thousands of young artists from across San Antonio. Their remarkable artwork not only earned them citywide recognition but also brought significant funding to support their schools' art programs.

Grand Prize Winner: Autumn Garcia, Forester Elementary School

A huge congratulations to Autumn Garcia, a fourth grader from Forester Elementary School, for winning the Grand Prize! Under the guidance of her art teacher, Jesus Rosales, and principal, Kelly Mantle, Autumn’s artistic talent has secured an exciting list of prizes:

  • $10,000 for the Forester Elementary art program
  • A summer art camp experience at the Southwest School of Art
  • A ride with the Parade Marshall in the Texas Cavaliers River Parade
  • A year of Whataburger and some exclusive swag!

Three additional students earned Finalist honors, each winning $5,000 for their school’s art program, a summer art camp at the Southwest School of Art, and their artwork featured on a VIA bus traveling through the city.

In total, $37,000 was awarded to Northside ISD elementary art programs, helping to nurture the next generation of young artists. The winners were selected to represent one of ten city council districts and an at-large position, standing out among thousands of entries.
