Holmes HS Volleyball Standout Named KENS5 All-Star Athlete

Olivia De Leon, a senior at Holmes High School, was chosen as the 2024-25 KENS  5 All-Star Student Athlete Award winner. Surrounded by her fellow volleyball team members and fellow students, she was presented the award by award sponsor Raul B. Rodriguez during a live broadcast on the KENS5 Great Day show.

“Through her years at Holmes High School, Olivia has shown an unwavering commitment to excellence, growth, and leadership,” said Holmes HS Varsity Volleyball Coach Laura Suarez who nominated her for the award.

De Leon is a four-year varsity athlete and honor student, team captain, and mentor.

“Olivia demonstrates unparalleled leadership as team captain, setting high-performance standards and mentoring younger players,” Coach Suarez said. “Her dedication is evident in her first-to-arrive, last-to-leave ethos, balancing rigorous academics as a National Honor Society member with elite sportsmanship.

“Olivia is truly a motivated young woman in school as well as in her community,” Holmes HS Principal Cynthia Barrera said. “She is someone who takes her schoolwork seriously, but above all else, she exemplifies the qualities of integrity and character.”

KENS 5 and the Raul B. Rodriguez Law present the All-Star Student Award to local students who excel not only in the classroom but also exhibit leadership qualities through community service and extracurricular activities, exemplifying teamwork and integrity.
