Dr. Darrell Rice - Principal
Dr. Rice is an educator with 33 years of experience. He has served as a teacher, coach, and administrator at all levels in Texas public schools. Dr. Rice was appointed as Principal of NAHS in May 2013. He is a dedicated educator who continuously seeks to provide the best educational experience for all students. Dr. Rice believes that a quality education is the purpose for NAHS and is committed to making the NAHS the best DAEP High School in Texas. Dr. Rice also believes that all students' can be successful and it is the goal at NAHS to provide a safe and structured environment, build student's self-esteem, and return students to their home campus with the tools they will need to be successful in school and life.

Lauren Gonzaba - Associate Principal

Northside ISD is pleased to welcome Lauren Gonzaba as the new Associate Principal at Northside Alternative High School.

Ms. Gonzaba set roots in NISD in ‘99 as a Cable Cub and graduated as a Stevens Falcon in 2011. She began her teaching career in 2015 as an English Teacher at Northside’s Alternative High School, eventually becoming the department coordinator in 2016. After overseeing the English Department for six years, and then joining the leadership team as an Assistant Principal, Ms. Gonzaba has now earned the opportunity to serve as the NAHS Associate Principal with a singular understanding about our district’s At-Risk population.

Ms. Gonzaba brings a variety of skills and insights that will support the district’s mission and vision in providing NAHS students the opportunity and encouragement to fulfill life-long goals. Beloved by her NAHS family, Ms. Gonzaba aims to maintain a culture that welcomes and fosters positive relationships between students and educators.

Ms. Gonzaba is thrilled to serve the staff and students of NAHS. Here’s to a great year!
