Monica Yzaguirre received special recognition at the beginning of this school year from her former student, Reynaldo Perez, a senior at Holmes High School.

I would love to honor this educator because they mean so much to me and have helped me grow as a young adult to chase and hopefully achieve my dreams one day. Mrs. Y (Educator Yzaguirre) has turned me from a shy, antisocial student who didn't really care for school to a athlete ready to learn and succeed in life who's in soccer now—never would've guessed I'd be in soccer but here I am. I and many of the AVID junior class should agree that Monica Yzaguirre has turned the path my life in an infinitely more positive turn than it ever would've been without her. Thank you for your time and I believe this teacher deserves more recognition for her work and dedication and pure love for her students as I am one of them.
