Cynthia Barrera - Principal

am Cynthia Barrera and I am a proud product of NISD. I attended JB Passmore, Anson Jones, and John Jay. I completed my undergraduate work at the University of the Incarnate Word and received a masters degree from Houston Baptist University. I began my teaching career at Holmes HS in 1998 as a Reading Specialist and Cheer coach then became an assistant principal. I moved to Brandeis HS in 2008 as an assistant principal and later became the Vice Principal. I am beyond elated to be back as the Holmes principal since 2021.

My drive and motivation come from providing opportunities for our Huskies and equipping them with the necessary tools to be successful in life. I am proud to serve with such amazing educators on our campus who share the same vision. I know that working together with our staff and community, our students will achieve great things.

Lisa Hahne - Associate Principal

Lisa Hahne graduated from Southwest Texas State University and completed a masters degree at Houston Baptist University in Education. She completed her Education Administration course work at Texas A & M Kingsville. She has worked in the educational sector for 28 years and honored that all of these years have been with the Northside Independent School District.

Demetria Simmons

Academic Dean

As the Academic Dean of Holmes and NSITE High School, Dr. Simmons is responsible for overseeing all of the academic programs for both campuses. Dr. Simmons joined Northside ISD in 2007 as the Reading Specialist at Pease Middle School. Throughout her NISD career, she has worked at NAMs Middle School, Jones Middle School, and Harlan High School as the 504 and Testing Coordinator. She was appointed Admin. Intern at Pease Middle School in the Fall of 2018, where she served until she was named Academic Program Coordinator at Holmes High School. Dr. Simmons currently serves as the Academic Dean at Holmes and NSITE High School. Dr. Simmons earned her Bachelor's degree from The University of the Incarnate Word, Master's Degree from Concordia University, and her Doctorate from Capella University. She is a loving wife and a mother of a 12-year-old boy (who attends an NISD Middle School) and a 4 year-old daughter.
