We are expecting a large crowd for election day, November 8th. There will be limited student parking as the entire library parking lot along Ewing Halsell will be reserved for voters (see photo below). If you drive to school, please try to make other arrangements if possible.
Off-campus lunch will be suspended as well. However, the junior class will be selling pizza during lunch for those that are interested.
This is a reminder to all parents regarding the packet of information your student received from Jostens on Thursday, November 3rd regarding Cap and Gown Announcement and Class Ring ordering.
A letter to NISD students, staff, and parents from Superintendent Brian Woods:
In our efforts to keep you well informed, we wanted you to be aware that there have been a number of clown posts made on social media similar to the “creepy clown” incidents that have occurred across the state and nation. Please understand that law enforcement has indicated these clown posts are a social media hoax.
Be that as it may, the NISD Police Department and staff will remain diligent and monitor social media and if necessary, take appropriate action. We know that you entrust your child’s safety and education to us, and these are our highest priorities.
These unfortunate incidents are a prime example of the power of social media and how that power is not always used in a good way and instead can create fear and uncertainty. Please take this opportunity to discuss with your children the value of social media, as well as the dangers of misusing it.
Rest assured that our campuses are safe and that learning will continue. As always, if you have any concerns or wish to speak to someone, contact your school principal.
Brian T. Woods
