Kristen Shaheen - Hatchett Librarian
Have you visited our library and met Mrs. Shaheen? Kristen Shaheen is a loud and proud NISD librarian! She has a total of 15 years of experience in education, spanning from elementary to high school. Her favorite thing about being a librarian is Storytime and when students tell her about the books they read. She will drop almost anything to talk about books and bugs. When she is not on the shelves or in a book, she is at home with her husband, kids, cats, and bearded dragon.
She holds a BS in English for Education with a dual minor in Religion and Reading. She also holds a MS-IS from the University of North Texas, and has Youth Librarian and Storytelling certificates. Shaheen chose to be a librarian because everything she was teaching related to the library from research to utilizing books and finding documents online. Shaheen also really likes Storytime!
We asked Mrs. Shaheen, Why Northside ISD? She said. "I work within NISD because I live here and my children go to NISD campuses. I am a big believer in community and building strong bonds with schools and the local neighborhoods."
If you see Mrs. Shaheen, ask about her favorite book. She has done amazing things for our campus. Getting new books, providing free books for students. on our PTA board, and always available to help. At our block party, PTA events, etc. she is always the first to volunteer and help! swing by and say "Hi" and talk about your favorite book with her, she will love to meet you. She also always needs volunteers, so if you have time, please volunteer to help in the library.
