The kindergarten team at Forester Elementary consists of five teachers:

Mrs. Rechterman and Mrs. Castañeda specialize in dual language instruction, where they teach 90% of the time in Spanish and 10% in English. This approach allows students to develop proficiency in both languages. On the other hand, Mrs. Reyes, Mrs. Alvarado, and Ms. Galvan teach exclusively in English. All 5 classrooms provide a fun and interactive kindergarten environment that allows for an exciting and hands-on learning experience.
Mrs. Rechterman has had a diverse teaching experience spanning over 16 years. She started her career in education at Tuloso Midway ISD in Corpus Christi, where she taught kindergarten and 1st grade bilingual classes for 5 years. Following that, she transitioned to Forester Elementary, where she has spent the last 11 years teaching both 1st grade bilingual and kindergarten dual language classes. Throughout her career, Mrs. Rechterman has emphasized the importance of building positive relationships with her students. She believes that these relationships are foundational and can have a lasting impact on her students' lives beyond the classroom. Her dedication to fostering connections with her students reflects her commitment to creating a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
With over three decades of dedicated service to the field of education, Cecilia Castaneda's journey began in Spain, where she embarked on her teaching career by imparting the beauty of the English language to students of all ages as a Second Language instructor. Throughout her career, Cecilia has served as a champion of diversity and inclusivity, specializing in dual language, ESL, and bilingual education for kindergarten and first-grade students. A seasoned traveler, she immersed herself in diverse cultures and enriched her understanding of the world. She continues to empower the next generation one classroom at a time.
Mrs. Reyes has had a long career as an educator in the Northside Independent School District. With 18 years of experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as a teacher. Having taught across different grade levels, including first and second grades, Mrs. Reyes has a broad understanding of elementary education. Her enthusiasm for teaching Kindergarten for the past 9 years showcases her passion for nurturing young learners during their formative years of education. Mrs. Reyes's dedication to education and her 13-year tenure at Forester Elementary undoubtedly make her a valued member of the school community.
Mrs. Alvarado, currently in her third year of teaching Kindergarten, brings a wealth of experience working with children of various age groups, spanning from 6 weeks to 11 years, over the past 12 years. On a personal note, her educational journey has roots in NISD schools, starting from elementary and continuing through high school. She proudly earned her Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University San Antonio—Go Jaguars! Embarking on her third year as a Kindergarten teacher, she finds immense joy in working with the little ones. She is grateful to be part of a district that has played a crucial role in shaping her career path.
Ms. Galvan boasts an extensive teaching career spanning 8 years, with dedicated experience in both 4th grade (6 years) and kindergarten (2 years). Holding a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Early Childhood Education-6th grade, along with an English as a Second Language supplemental qualification from the University of Texas at San Antonio, she has a solid educational foundation. Currently pursuing a graduate degree at UTSA in school counseling, Ms. Galvan is committed to further enhancing her skills. Her commitment to fostering meaningful connections extends beyond the classroom, as she actively engages with colleagues, students, and their families. Ms. Galvan's involvement in various leadership roles, such as serving as a PTA board member, participating in the attendance committee, and acting as a team leader, reflects her dedication to school community enhancement. These leadership experiences have contributed significantly to her growth as an educator, promoting success across all facets of student education. As she pursues her graduate studies, Ms. Galvan remains inspired each day to evolve, guide, and wholeheartedly love her role in shaping the educational journey for her students.
