Thrill-A-Mill Celebrates 10 Years of Service Through the Arts

NISD middle school students dressed and posed as zombies at the football stadium.

Over 600 zombies took over NISD’s Gustafson Stadium on Tuesday, October, 30, 2018!  Don’t be alarmed, it was for a good cause.  The zombies were from the Theatre and Dance programs representing all 20 Northside middle schools at the annual Thrill-A-Mill celebration which is a partnership with NISD Fine Arts and the San Antonio Food Bank.  This year the Thrill-A-Mill Partnership is celebrating 10 years of community service through the arts!

In their Theatre and Dance classes, students researched special effects make up and costuming and learned about body awareness and movement by learning choreography to Thriller.  Thrill-A-Mill is a project where students take what they have learned and apply it to a performance opportunity every fall just before Halloween.  While working on their performance, each campus held a food drive to benefit the San Antonio Food Bank as we come upon the holiday season.  This year our middle school programs brought in on 4,200 pounds of food for the Food Bank!
