Dear Elrod Elementary Families,
It is with great honor to introduce myself as the Principal of Jimmy L. Elrod Elementary. This appointment has special significance to me as Elrod is where I began my Northside career back in 1995. Never did I imagine that I would have an opportunity to go back home to lead such a wonderful group of educators and to be able to reconnect with Elrod families and build relationships with new families as well.
Here is a little bit of information about myself. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, I taught third grade for two years in my hometown of Carrizo Springs, Texas. This is my 24th year working in NISD where I have had the opportunity to teach third grade and serve as the reading specialist at Elrod. After receiving my master’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, I had the pleasure of working as the Administrator Intern and Vice Principal at Mead Elementary and opening up Kallison Elementary, one of Northside’s newest schools, as their Vice Principal.
My husband and I have been married for 21 years and are the proud parents of two daughters. He is also a part of the Northside family where he teaches science and coaches girls athletics. We enjoy spending our time watching our daughters participate in various athletic events and going to their orchestra concerts.
While I have had wonderful learning experiences during my career, the most valuable knowledge I have gained has been as an educator at Elrod. I learned when you show a child you genuinely believe in them, amazing things can happen. That building strong relationships with our parents is vital to their child’s success and no matter their circumstances or background they all have the ability to learn.
I look forward to getting to know all of our Elrod families as we come together to make this a great school year.
Sincerely,
Belinda Flores
