Mission Statement:
Preparing the Driggers Hounds of today to be the leaders of tomorrow.
This year I am beginning my 26th year in education, all of which has been in Northside ISD.
I began my career at Carson Elementary teaching both 2nd and 5th grade. I then moved onto Braun Station Elementary where I was the Campus Instructional Technologist (CIT). After receiving my Administrative Certification from UT San Antonio (UTSA) I served as an Administrative Intern at both Ott and Mead Elementary. I was then appointed Vice Principal at Jim Martin Elementary followed by two years as the Vice Principal at W.Z. "Doc" Burke Elementary.
In August of 2017, I was invited to become a member of the Rita Kay Driggers Elementary family.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from UTSA and later earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Walden University.
I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and lived there until I joined the US Air Force. Following 9½ years in the service, I was honorably discharged and moved to San Antonio to start a new chapter in my life.
I have a beautiful and supportive wife, Jenni, and two amazing sons, Joshua and Zachary. I have many interests including woodworking, camping and family time. I also enjoy all sports, especially supporting the Milwaukee Bucks, Green Bay Packers and whoever is playing the Dallas Cowboys :o)
The Associate Principal also serves as the Campus Behavior Coordinator. They can be reached by email at melissa.alvarez@nisd.net or by phone at (210) 397-5915.
I am SUPER excited to be a part of the Driggers family. This is my tenth year in Northside and I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and my Master’s Degree in Leadership Policies and Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Go Roadrunners! I look forward to making a difference in our school and community. I look forward to working with each and every one of our students, families, and members of our community.
