Attendance Team Members and Their Roles

Ensuring students attend school regularly is a team effort. Each member of the attendance team has specific roles to help identify and address attendance issues. Below are the key responsibilities of each team member, including the Administrator, Student Attendance Liaison (SAL), Academic Dean, Counselor, and Campus Support Members. This coordinated approach helps support students and their families, promoting better attendance and academic success.

Administrator

  • Lead campus attendance initiatives
  • Conduct home visits as campus leader
  • Schedule routine meetings; at least monthly
  • Collaborate with team members on interventions
  • Provide resources specific to family needs
  • Create and implement Individual Attendance Plans (IAP)
  • Create and serve Attendance Warning Notices (AWN)


SAL (Student Attendance Liaison)

  • Support campus attendance interventions
  • Join campus staff on home visits to provide resources
  • Communicate information to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with team members on interventions
  • Provide resources specific to family needs
  • Create and serve Attendance Warning Notices (AWN)


Academic Dean

  • Provide instructional support and resources
  • Coordinate and communicate grades and credit information with families
  • Collaborate with team members on interventions
  • Assist in documenting interventions and results


Counselor

  • Provide targeted resources
  • Join administrator or SAL on home visits as counseling support
  • Coordinate and communicate grades and credit information with families
  • Collaborate with team members on interventions


Campus Support Members (teachers, nurse, graduation coach, Family Engagement, CIS, etc.)

  • Refer students to attendance administrator
  • Update critical information
  • Collaborate with team members on interventions
  • Assist in implementing interventions
  • Assist in documenting interventions and results
  • Provide resources specific to family needs
