NISD Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday night to expand the District’s Full Day Pre-Kindergarten programs to 28 additional campuses making a total of 33 campuses with full day Pre-K. In addition, the District will also offer a limited number of tuition-based slots for non-qualifying families.
The district will continue to offer half-day Pre-K programming at 35 campuses.
To qualify for free Pre-Kindergarten, a child must be four-years-old on or before Sept. 1. They also must be one of the following: educationally disadvantaged (income eligible), limited English speaker, homeless, under the care of DPS/Foster Care, a child of an active duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces, the child of a family member that was killed or injured during active military duty, or the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas award.

To be considered for a tuition-based slot, a child must be four-years-old on or before Sept. 1, a resident of Northside ISD, complete the application before the deadline for Priority Consideration in the Lottery, pay the registration fee, and maintain current registration paperwork.
Beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 18, a link will be provided at https://nisd.net/prekinder for families interested in applying for the full day program. Once the application is accepted, the formal online registration piece must be completed within a week of acceptance on the online registration system at https://nisd.net/student-registration. Families will be notified by early May if they have been accepted.
