โฐ Instructional School Day: 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.โฐ

Hello Carson Families!

As we approach the end of the calendar year, I want to remind you that winter break is just a few weeks away. Our last day of school before the break will be on December 20th, and we will welcome students back on January 7th.

This is a wonderful time to reflect on the progress and achievements of the first part of the school year. I hope the upcoming break provides your family with opportunities to rest, celebrate, and create special memories together.

Please donโ€™t hesitate to reach out to the school office if you have any questions or need assistance before the holiday. Thank you for your partnership and support in making Carson Elementary such a vibrant and supportive learning community. Wishing you and your family a joyful and peaceful holiday season!

Warm regards,

Lisa Mendez

Proud Carson Principal

Important Reminders

***Please Read***

STUDENTS BEING DROPPED OFF (AFTER 7:45 am):

Parents, please ensure to sign your child in with the front office, if you are dropping off after 7:45 a.m. This is the only way we can account that your child made it into the building safely. Staff is only on duty until 7:40 a.m.

STUDENTS ARRIVING AFTER THE FIRST BELL (7:40 a.m.): Will walk to class on their own or be escorted by a staff member. Staff are on duty throughout the building to assist in morning routines. If you enjoy walking your child to class, please arrive before 7:40 a.m.

STUDENTS UTILIZING CURBSIDE DROP OFF:

Parents can pull up to the front of the school and Patrols will be greeting and opening car doors. Parents, please do not block the crosswalk when using the Curbside Drop off Service.

FOR ALL STUDENTS:

The dismissal plans designated by parents will be followed. Changes to dismissal plans can only be communicated by parents and changes in writing are preferable. Teachers are busy with students all day and do not check email very often. Please do not assume the teacher saw an email or text message. A note in the folder and an email is a good rule to follow. If a response is not received from the teacher, assume the message was not received and call the office to relay the requested dismissal change. If in doubt or with a sudden unexpected change, please call the office.

***ALL CHANGES TO REGULAR DISMISSAL PLANS MUST BE COMMUNICATED BY 2:30 PM.***

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Northside Safety

Student safety is our number one priority! The most important procedures in a school are those that ensure a safe environment for our children. Our routines and procedures ensure our students can come to school and enjoy learning.

Safety is a team effort! It takes everyone following expectations and procedures for our campus to remain safe and secure. The district continues to enhance safety protocols and you will notice some new procedures in place for this year. All district facilities will implement the use of the Standard Response Protocol. In the event of a potential threat, it provides common language across campuses and with local law enforcement agencies.

Background checks: If you will be joining us on campus this year to volunteer, attend a classroom special event or chaperone on a field trip, please complete your background check now. You may do that by going to https://www.nisd.net/community/volunteer-mentor and completing the form.

Don't forget to keep your emergency information up to date in HAC.
