Martin Elementary receives official “green building” certification

Martin Elementary School has received the “Silver” certification of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System. The LEED rating system was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C.

The "Silver" rating represents excellence for energy conservation, environmental and indoor air quality, use of renewable building materials, and construction waste management among other aspects.

The "Silver" rating will be mounted in the entry corridor of the school signifying the commitment of the District to the ideals of "green building."
