Claudia Sanchez - Principal

Hello, my name is Claudia Sanchez, and I am honored to be the principal of Carl Wanke Elementary. My career in Education began in 1993 when I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I taught for eight years, in Laredo Texas, before becoming a Dual Language Coordinator for Laredo ISD. I then served as a Vice Principal for Laredo ISD for one year and continued my administrative career with Northside ISD in 2006. My experiences in Northside include four years as Vice-Principal of Passmore Elementary and two years as Vice-Principal of Lieck Elementary. This is my twelfth year as the principal of Carl Wanke Elementary. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a master’s degree from Texas A&M International University.
I am privileged to serve teachers, parents, the community, and our most prized possessions, our children. My vision, for Carl Wanke Elementary, is that we work collaboratively in building leaders one student at a time. Wanke Wolves are leaders!

Samantha Weissler - Associate Principal

Hi Wanke families, my name is Samantha Weissler and I am the proud Associate Principal of Wanke Elementary School. I started my teaching career as a 5th grade teacher in Somerset ISD. I taught in Somerset ISD for many years and was able to be a master teacher at the elementary level. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Education from UTSA (go runners) and my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. With my degree, I was able to obtain my Special Education, ESL and Principal certification. Prior to joining Wanke, I was a Site Coordinator for Texas Tech University within the College of Education for seven years then was an Academic Coach in Judson ISD. At Texas Tech was able to work with student teachers as they completed their schooling to become teachers themselves and then in Judson ISD work with teachers to focus on instruction to increase student success. My passion is to make a difference in the lives of students. I am driven to help, guide and mentor students to be successful and productive citizens.

Becoming a wolf as the Associate Principal has been fantastic! It is an honor to be a part of the family. I am looking forward to connecting with the community, staff, parents and our students. Wanke Elementary is the best place on the planet!
