The Timberwilde Discovery Team is home to Art, PE, Music, and STEM.  We are on a 6-day rotation. During Discovery, students use their creativity to explore, engage, and collaborate with hands-on learning. Discovery time also integrates core subjects and fosters student’s social and emotional growth.

Art Banner

Hello, my name is Mr.Garcia. I have been Timberwilde’s Art Teacher for over 15 years. I graduated from
Texas A&M Kingsville in 1996 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts. In 2001, I received my Masters in
Educational Administration.

In addition to my formal training, I am a practicing artist. I have been
published in Los Angeles, exhibited in New York and recently exhibited in Milan, Italy and Spain. Painting
is my true calling.

In my class students will have opportunities to explore many different medias and
study lots of artists. Those medias include clay, painting, chalks, oil pastels and many more. We are only
limited by time and our imagination. Timberwilde is a great campus and many wonderful artists walk its
hallways.

Years in Service,

Tony Garcia

Elementary School Physical Education

Northside ISD's Elementary Physical Education program derives from the research-based SPARK and CATCH Curriculums. SPARK is a public health organization dedicated to creating, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote lifelong wellness. CATCH is a Coordinated School Health Program with over 25 years of research and the most scientific evidence of effectiveness. Both programs adhere to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, and CATCH is TEA Approved as a Coordinated School Health Program.

FitnessGram

State law requires school districts to annually assess the physical fitness of students enrolled in grade three or higher and to provide the results of individual student performance on the administered physical fitness assessments to the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The Physical Fitness Assessment Initiative (PFAI) is a program designed to collect and analyze the required student physical fitness data.

Parents may request their child's physical fitness assessment results by contacting their child's physical education teacher.

Restricted Physical Education

A student who is unable to participate in the state-required regular PE program due to a specific physiological condition should have a physician complete the Physician's form and will have their program modified.

S.T.E.M

Welcome to the Timberwilde STEM lab.

STEM is part of the Discovery rotation, students will come to STEM once every 6 school days. We are in our inaugural year and very excited to introduce the NISD design process to students in grades Pre-K through 5th.STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. STEM integrates these different subject areas and TEKS into a cohesive learning model in Inquiry-Based Learning.

In STEM, our Timberwolves collaborate with peers as they work through the design process: ask, imagine, create (test), collaborate, and improve their design challenges while working towards a goal.

Some STEM fields that we introduce are: Environmental Engineering, Coding, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Engineering. With each day in the STEM lab, our students are encouraged to become problem solvers, critical thinkers, and creative learners while working with peers to solve real-world problems.
