Sotomayor High School offers a comprehensive Gifted and Talented (GT) program designed to cater to the unique needs of students exhibiting significantly advanced general intellectual ability or specific subject matter aptitude in language arts, science, social studies, and mathematics. The GT program spans from kindergarten to 12th grade, providing a differentiated curriculum that allows students to work to their fullest potential. Services may include modified delivery of instruction, acceleration, greater depth, more complex content, and enrichment activities. The GT program teachers are qualified, having met state requirements for their teaching assignments.
Vision: The GT/Advanced Academics department emphasizes unique programs nurturing high-performing students, fostering parent and community involvement through Gifted and Talented, Advanced Placement (AP), PreAP, and Dual Credit classes.
Mission: The mission of the GT program is to create a challenging learning environment that encourages lifelong learning, boosts self-esteem, expands access to higher education, and enables students to reach their fullest potential as independent thinkers.
