5th Grade
Our Goals for 5th Grade
- Students will increase comprehension and fluency through direct instruction, workstation activities, and interventions. Students will increase their critical thinking skills through comprehension strategies. Students below grade level will increase their reading levels by at least two levels by the end of the year.
- Students will master multiplication and division of facts, mathematical operations and problem solving through direct instruction, recursive review, interventions and workstation and whole groups activities.
Students will adopt a critical thinking stance through observation, evidence, and reasoning using the 5E model.
Our 5th Grade teachers chose to work at Northside because they offer teachers the opportunity to grow professionally. They also offer students various avenues to develop interests in desired career fields through magnet schools and extracurricular organizations.
5th Grade Teacher Bios
Mrs. Conroy has been teaching 5th grade at Passmore for 8 years. She holds a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a Masters in Reading Curriculum and Instruction.
Mrs. Ruiz is an amazing first year teacher! She came to us from Texas Tech in January. She holds her Bachelor of Science in Education.
Ms. Salgado is our dual language teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She has been at Passmore for 5 years and in Northside for 10.
