MAP Testing
All 2nd-5th Grade students will be taking their middle of the year (MOY) MAP assessments in the weeks before we leave for the Winter Break. Please help your child be their best by going to bed early, eating a good breakfast, and getting them to school on time. Below are the dates for MAP testing:
- Tues, Dec. 3rd: MAP Math
- Dec. 4-6: MAP Math Make-Ups
- Tues, Dec. 10th: MAP Reading
- Dec. 11-13: MAP Reading Make-Ups
Kinder & 1st Grade students will take their MOY MAP assessments when we return from the Winter Break in January. We will share those dates in our January newsletter.

Northside ISD invites all 5th-grade families to our upcoming Magnet Fairs at the Northside Sports Gym and the Northside Activity Center.
These fairs are your gateway to exploring the exceptional educational opportunities our magnet programs offer. Expect engaging presentations that will give you a glimpse into the dynamic curricula and unique experiences awaiting your child. Participate in interactive Q&A sessions where you can ask anything—from curriculum specifics to transportation logistics. This is your chance to meet the faculty dedicated to shaping bright futures.
Bring your questions, your curiosity, and your enthusiasm! This is more than an event—it's an opportunity to envision a future of endless possibilities for your child. Whether you're interested in STEM, health sciences, cybersecurity, or multimedia, our magnet fairs have something for everyone. Don't miss out on this chance to elevate your child's educational journey.

- 1/31: Acceptance Letters Emailed
- 2/7: Commitment Letters Due
Winter Parties
- All donated food items must be store-bought and in original packaging
- Please send food items in with your child the morning on the party OR before Friday
- Parent volunteers may use their Fast Pass
- If you don't have a Fast Pass, come by the Office before Friday with a physical copy of your state-issued ID to have a pass made for you
- You may check your child out early with their classroom teacher
PTA Winter Wonderland Dance!
We are excited to invite you to the Winter Wonderland Dance hosted by PTA on December 6th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM!
It’s going to be a fun-filled evening with music, dancing, and a special photo opportunity with Santa! 🎅
Ticket Details:
Entrance Fee $3 per person – You can pay via cash or Zelle at the event
Tickets are $1 each
Tickets will be used for concessions and photos with Santa.
Santa Photo Info:
PTA Members: 3 tickets per photo
Non-PTA Members: 5 tickets per photo (join today at joinpta.org)
Each photo can include up to 3 people. Additional guests will need 1 extra ticket each.
Photo Hours: 6:00 - 7:00 PM
Please Note: All students must be accompanied by an adult—no drop-offs.

Monthly Math Tip
Each month, we will highlight ways you can help your child continue growing in their Math skills and give you easy ways to incorporate Math into your every day life.
- With the Winter Break approaching, help your child brush up on their fact fluency by taking just 10 minutes a day and log onto XtraMath! Your child can access XtraMath by logging into their NISD Portal and clicking on the icon.
- Did you attend Camp Hoot? Pull out those fun games teachers shared with you and try playing at home!
Was Your Child Absent??
When your child is absent, you can submit an excuse note in several ways:
- Send a written parent note or Dr note with your child to turn into the office.
- Send your child's teacher a message on Dojo.
- Email our Attendance Secretary @april.gonzalez@nisd.net
- Drop your excuse note off in the Front Office.
