Save on school supplies and clothes during annual Sales Tax Holiday Aug. 9-11

Sales Tax Holiday August 9-11

For families starting their back-to-school shopping, this is a reminder that the Annual Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled for Aug. 9 through 11.

As in previous years, most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks priced under $100 are exempt from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.

The lists of apparel and school supplies that may be purchased tax-free can be found on the Comptrollerโ€™s website.

The Northside website has school supply lists for each elementary school.

Teachers provide middle and high school students with school supply lists on the first day of school. Basic supplies, like pens, pencils, and spiral notebooks, can be purchased ahead of time.
