- Dual Credit and Advanced Placement classes are open to all eligible Marshall/LMS students, check with your counselor.
- Credit from AP and Dual transfer to schools both in and outside of Texas.
- Visit your intended university's website to check for transfer eligibility.
- To check Advanced courses Equivalency to other colleges visit the Texas Common Course Numbering System website
- Find the equivalent college course number for the courses offered through Marshall.
Advanced Placement
All AP courses are taught at a college level - the course does not give automatic college credit.

Steps to Register for AP Exam
- Student Must Register for each AP class
- Get class code from teacher
- A different code for each class
- Student must enter or create a collegeboard account to register
- Use an accessible email - All correspondence will be through this email
Student Must Pay for Exam by November 1st.
- Payment is made through MySchoolbucks.com
- There is a $40 late fee after payment deadline
- Fees are non-refundable.
- If student does not take the test - no refund of fee
- If student cancels test after payment - no refund of fee
Expectation for AP students
- If a student is in an AP course, there is an expectation the AP exam will be taken.
- Credit is obtained when colleges accept exam scores

Dual Credit
Northwest Vista and St.Philip's Colleges have strict deadlines that students must meet to be eligible to take a Dual Credit Class.
On-Ramps is through the University of Texas at Austin. Marshall students are eligible with Course Instructor approval, no steps to complete.

Application Process & Deadlines
Step One: Complete the ApplyTexas application by February 24, 2025. Depending on the course the student is wanting to take, they can complete the application for Northwest Vista College OR St. Philip’s College (CULINARY ONLY) - If the ONLY Dual Credit class you plan on taking is Culinary Arts, you will only submit an application for St. Philip’s College. If you are going to take any other Dual Credit courses your application needs to go through Northwest Vista College (You will still be able to take Culinary Arts)
Step Two: Print/ pick up & complete the Dual Credit- New to Program form
(DUE: FRIDAY, 2/24/25) *Before Spring break 2025*
Students are required to submit this form designating which dual credit course(s) they wish to take in the upcoming school year. Changes may not be honored after completing & submitting this form! Students should be sure of the courses they wish to be enrolled in.
Step Three: Dual Credit Student Orientation Including Parent Consent
(DUE: FRIDAY, 3/7/25)
Students must log in to their ACES account and complete the online Dual Credit Student Orientation (DCSO) module. This can also be done through the Canvas App. Use this DCSO step by step guide to complete this step.
Step Four: Register for TSI Test before February 24, 2025. Testing is waived if you qualify with PSAT scores. Please note, steps 1& 2 of the process MUST be completed prior to registering for the TSI. Payment of $14 for the TSI will be made through MySchoolBucks.com
Take TSI on your assigned test date. Last test will be March 1, 2025.
Spanish 3 Dual Credit does NOT require completion of step 5: TSIA2 testing (Eligibility is determined during the fall semester of Spanish 2 using the SDcafe assessment)
*Have qualifying PSAT scores (Reading 460/Math 510)? Email Mrs. Risisus & ask her to upload your scores. No TSIA2 test needed.
*Have qualifying SAT scores (Reading 480/ Math 530)? YOU need to send your scores directly to Northwest Vista College from your CollegeBoard Account. Mrs. Risius cannot submit SAT scores, it is Northwest Vista College’s policy. Scores are due May 1st, 2025!
Please note: If you are currently taking any Dual Credit classes, you DO NOT need to reapply. You will automatically be rolled over for next year.

Click on "ACES Login

Type in your username (emailed to you by Alamo Colleges or check with Ms. Blackwell in F210)

Type in your password as follows:

Password: In Capital Letter, the first 2 letters of your last name, then your DOB (2 numbers for month, 2 numbers for date, 2 numbers for year) Example: John Smith with DOB Jan 2, 1999 - SM010299

You will be prompted to create a new password - follow the instructions
Go FAARR Module (Module 1):

Click "Start Here" in the black box on left.

In the middle, towards the bottom, find Enrollment Checklist. Click on Number 2, "Go FAARR Module".

Once in this module, click on "next" Read all information continue with next.

You will continue clicking next until you submit.

You will be taken back to Dashboard. Next click on Test Prep Review Module.
Test Prep Review Module (Module 2):
1. This module will take you through all the questions, and examples of what is on the TSI, the test that is mandatory for Dual Credit and qualifies you as College Ready.
- Submit, then return to the Dashboard.
- Check to make sure both 2 and 3 under "enrollment checklist" are complete.
2. Click on Home.
3. Make sure you write down your username, banner id and password.
Dual Credit Orientation (Module 3): Do not do this Module for St.Philips College

Right hand side click on Canvas Icon

Click Accept, you will be transferred to the canvas page.

At the top click Accept the DCSO.

Read through the information to upload your signed consent form.

Click on the 2nd title, "High School Program Acknowledgment form"

Click "take quiz" - fill out, you will need your Banner ID, Submit, go down click next.

Continue through module until you reach the graduation hat, "We Did It."

Review of the Spanish 3 Dual Credit Requirements
Because students aren’t required to take the TSI for Spanish, they are required to:
- take the SDCAFE assessment
- pass it with a 7 or higher
- Dates for this assessment will be announced by your Spanish teacher
They must also complete the Dual Credit Process:
