Named for its neighborhood, Meadow Village Elementary School opened in the fall of 1968. However, the new building was not totally ready to be occupied when school began in 1968, so students attended another nearby elementary school (only half a day) until the building was completed. One former Meadow Village ES student recalls that the students were able to vote on what color the carpeting in the school would be. Their choices were red or gold, with gold winning.
