Every day, every student is empowered to be a successful, lifelong learner.
a-MAY-zing school. I began my service at May as principal in the 2014-2015 school year.
In my position as Principal, my goal is to empower students and staff to create their own successes. We strive to accomplish this through the development of leadership skills, individual strengths, high engagement and differentiated opportunities for academic and social-emotional learning.
Students at our school are taught to value, embrace and celebrate each other's uniqueness in their classroom, and through school wide events and activities. Be sure to follow us on social media on facebook at May Elementary, and twitter @NISDMay, as well as your child's teacher, and myself @MayPrincipal.
The Associate Principal also serves as the Campus Behavior Coordinator. They can be reached by email at Jenny.Gonzalez@nisd.net or by phone at 210-397-2015.
It is with great honor to serve as the Associate Principal of Monroe May Elementary. This is my 17th year working in NISD. Prior to becoming Associate Principal, I have had many experiences to include being a Self-contained Special Education Teacher, a Collaborative/Co-teach Teacher, a Special Education Campus Coordinator, and an Administrator Intern all within Northside ISD. My educational background includes a Bachelorโs Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masterโs Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies both from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
My husband, who is also a part of the Northside family and I have been married for 14 years and are the proud parents of two children and an Olde English Bulldogge. We spend the majority of our time cheering for them either on a court, mat, or a field depending on the season.
While I have had wonderful learning experiences during my career, the most valuable key I learned was the power in building relationships. Building positive relationships with my students, staff, and the community is vital for growth. They promote open communication, collaboration, trust building, and empower our students with the willingness to take chances expanding their education to new heights creating successful, lifelong learners. My goal is to continue to strive for success as it is my privilege to assist in leading Monroe May Elementary and the a-MAY-zing teachers and students here!
