Welcome to the Knowlton Knight Art webpage!
My name is Mrs. Murillo and I have the pleasure of teaching Art to Kinder through 5th grade here at Knowlton Elementary. This will be my fourth year teaching Art full-time, I taught part-time for 7 years prior. After graduating from Southwest Texas State University, I worked as a Graphic Designer for several years before landing an opportunity to teach. Once I did, I was hooked and have been doing it ever since.
I love sharing what I know about Art with the students and seeing their reactions when they learn something new. The students will learn that creating a drawing or painting can be like telling a story... but in pictures! We look at paintings, sculptures, and other artwork and peruse children’s book illustrations and talk about what the artist or illustrator is trying to tell us. The students will learn the fundamentals of Art but will also have the opportunity to explore mediums and techniques they may not have experienced before.
Knowlton Knights Art Club
Our Art Club is open to 4th and 5th grade students (by application) and will take place in the Spring semester from January until March on Thursdays from 3-4 pm. (Specific dates on student application.) Students will have the opportunity to explore additional techniques and
mediums not used in our daily Art classes.
