Fine Arts

The Fine Arts at Jordan are represented by Choir, Orchestra, Band, Theatre, Dance, and Art. All disciplines grow from Beginning to Advanced levels over the course of middle school. Students in Fine Arts perform multiple times a year in school and community settings. Through participation in the Fine Arts, students develop life-long skills and appreciation for the arts. Jordan Fine Arts students are prepared to continue performing and participating in the arts through high school and beyond.

Jordan Middle School currently offers the following elective classes:

Art:

Instructors are Mr. Korinchock and Ms. Blalack. Art is available in 4 levels: beginner (Art 1), intermediate (Art 2), Studio Art (Art 3), and Highschool Art 1. Studio Art and HS Art 1 are available to 8th Grade students only due to prerequisites of two prior years of art classes at the middle school level. Studio Art adn HS Art 1 are taken for high school credit.

Dance:

Instructor is Mrs. Hernandez. Dance is available in 3 levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

6th, 7th, and 8th graders may enroll in Dance.

Choir:

The choir director is Mrs. Massie. Choir is available in 3 levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders may enroll in choir.

Theater Arts:

Instructor is Ms. Villanueva. Theater is available in 3 levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. 6th, 7th and 8th graders may enroll in Theater.

Journalism/Yearbook:

Instructors are Mrs. Neal and Ms. Navarro 7th and 8th graders may enroll in Journalism. A wide range of opportunities are available through journalism:  writing, layout and design, business, organization skills, photography- and creativity.  Members of the journalism course agree they share in one of the most rewarding and valuable experiences of their school life.  These students create and write each article for the campus newspaper, as well as, design and publish the yearbook.

PBS Future Lab (Public & Business Services Related Careers):

Instructor is Mrs. Prince. Students in 7th and 8th grade may enroll in this class. For high school credit, students that are in 8th grade may enroll in the Principals of Human Services (PHS) class. PBS Future Lab covers a broader spectrum of career based experiences and lab activities. PHS covers more public service related career topics.

Spanish:

Instructors are Ms. Cardenas and Mr. Rocha. Spanish is available in four level, Spanish 1, Spanish 2, Spanish 2 Advanced, and Spanish 3 Advanced. All levels of Spanish are high school credit courses.

STEM Future Lab: 

Instructor is Mr. Shedenhelm. Students in 7th and 8th grade may enroll in this class. For high school credit and more subject matter depth, 8th grade students may enroll in the Principals of Applied Engineering course.

Band:

The band director is Mr. Esparza. Band is available in 3 levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders may enroll in band.

Orchestra:

The orchestra director is Mr. Young. Orchestra is available in 3 levels: beginner, advanced and chamber orchestra. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders may enroll in orchestra.

AVID:

Instructors are Ms. Starks and Mrs. Arteaga.  AVID is an invitational program to help students prepare for college. There is an application process for students to be a part of this program. Students that are selected will receive an invitation to join and can sign up as one of their elective choices. Some of the AVID classes receive High School credit.
