Short Reminders

  • School Picture Day - Students will take school photos on Tuesday, October 22 through their PE, athletics, healthy habits, and dance classes.
  • Upcoming Field Trip Opportunity - We are taking a small group of students from all grade levels to visit with a group of civil engineers from Alamo NEX Construction on November 14. If your student is interested and hasn't signed up yet, the deadline is Sunday (10/20) at midnight. We can only take 40 students, so we will randomly select participants from the students who signed up. The sign-up form can be accessed at: https://shorturl.at/KZ7ad
  • 8th Grade Parent Volunteers - We still need parent chaperone volunteers for our 8th grade field trips on November 6 and December 5. If you are interested, be sure you have completed the background check form at http://hrvolunteer.nisd.net/ and then sign up for the trips you are interested in chaperoning using this form.
  • Report Cards - Student report cards for the first marking period were distributed in first period today. If your student was absent or did not receive theirs, you can access their grades through HAC at https://www.nisd.net/help/hac

Jay HS Learning Expo

Jay High School is hosting a Career and Engaged Learning EXPO on Tuesday, October 22, at the Jay campus from 5:30-7:00pm. This event will feature students from Jay, the Science and Engineering Academy, and our local middle and elementary schools. Students will be exhibiting examples of the innovative learning that has been happening at their campuses.

The Jay Science and Engineering Academy wants to extend a special invitation to Jones STEM students and families to attend this event. SEA plans to showcase the STEM strands of study they offer (Computer Science, Biotechnology, Engineering, and Robotics) in a special way so that our students can see the opportunities that lay ahead for them at SEA. We hope our students and families will be able to make it to this engaging and active event.

7th Grade Scientists

Our 7th grade students recently completed their frog dissection as they learned about body systems, such as the digestive system, skeletal system, and nervous system.

We also traveled to learn about the Edward's Aquifer with our 7th grade class. This was a very active field trip where students learned about local wildlife, native plants, as well as water conservation. We want to extend a special thank you to the volunteer chaperones that made this event possible!
