Art 1 MS
This course focuses on developing artistic skills in 6th & 7th grade art students such as drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media & digital media through hands-on art projects. Students are introduced to the famous artists as well as cultural art. Art students work in small groups and collaborate creatively throughout the school year!
Art 2 MS
This course continues the development of artistic skills such as drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media & digital media through hands-on art projects after taking Art 1 MS as a 6th or 7th grade artist. Students learn more in depth knowledge about many famous artists in addition to numerous examples of cultural art. Art students self-reflect & critique their own artworks while working in a creative environment throughout the school year!
Art I (High School Credit)
8th grade students with no prior experiences in a middle school art course can take Art I for High School Credit. 8th grade students taking Art I (HS Credit) will be introduced to drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media & digital media as well as famous artists and cultural art. This art curriculum can be differentiated if an art student demonstrates an advanced skill level in any media introduced during the Art I (HS) Course. Attendance is monitored throughout the school year as the final average earned by Studio Art (HS) students goes on their high school transcript!
Studio Art (High School Credit)
Art students who have excelled in Art 1 or Art 2 can qualify for Studio Art (HS Credit) course as an 8th grader. Students who have excellent attendance, demonstrated responsible academic habits consistently and are highly skilled at drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media can be recommended for the highest level of middle school art by their art teacher! Attendance is monitored throughout the school year as the final average earned by Studio Art (HS) students goes on their high school transcript.
