Frank Johnson - Principal
Dear Holmgreen parents and guardians,

I am very excited to introduce myself to you as the new principal of Holmgreen Center. I am excited about this new role and opportunity, and I can’t wait to meet our Holmgreen students and their families.

Education is a second career for me. I was an Active Duty Army medic for eight years when I realized I wanted to become a teacher. The military brought me to Texas, and I began my career as a Special Education teacher in Northside ISD. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work as a 4th grade teacher and a behavior coach. After earning my administrator’s certificate, I also worked at our district’s central office in the Curriculum and Instruction department. I have had the privilege of serving as the Vice Principal of two NISD elementary schools: Valley Hi ES and Galm ES. I recently retired from 28 years of military service as a member of the Texas Army National Guard. I completed four years of service as the proud principal of Fernandez Elementary School prior to my appointment as the Holmgreen principal.

I believe that all students deserve love, respect, and opportunity. Our goal at Holmgreen is to transform the lives of our students by providing these things, as well as innovating programming that is designed to meet their needs. By working with our campus community, we will continue to make this goal a reality.

Go Dolphins!

Hello Holmgreen Family! My name is Cheryl Parra and it is my pleasure to serve as your Associate Principal this school year.
I am a native of Queens, New York. I hold a Bachelor of Applied Arts from Texas State University. I hold three Master’s degrees. The first is in Special Education, the second is in Educational Administration, and the last one is in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
I am starting year 22 in Northside where I have served our students in the role of instructional assistant in a BMC setting and then being promoted to special education teacher at Zachry Middle School. I then worked at the district level as an instructional support teacher assisting schools across the district to deliver quality instruction to students with special needs through the use of research-based accommodations and modifications. I returned to campus work at Jay High School as a special education campus coordinator and assisted in opening Harlan High School. I was promoted to Assistant Principal at Harlan High School until being given the opportunity to serve as an Associate Principal at Holmgreen Center.
When I’m not at Holmgreen, you can find me in my kitchen cooking, reading a book, binging a series on Netflix, or going on a cruise with my husband.
As a lifelong learner, my hope is that my efforts will inspire every student at Holmgreen to reach for the stars. Here at Holmgreen ALL students will be able to acquire the life-long knowledge, skills, and values needed in order to make great contributions to their community and wherever life takes them.
We thank you for entrusting us with your child. If you have any questions or need any assistance please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to serve you!
Let’s have a great school year!
