Discover What You Can Achieve

Hobby Health Science Focused Magnet School

Northside ISD's first Health Science magnet middle school

Hobby Magnet Middle School offers a unique program emphasizing health professions, health science and healthcare through hands-on experiences and cross-content Project Based Learning (PBL). The program aligns with Health Science programs at magnet and multiple comprehensive high schools throughout NISD. The three-year curriculum at Hobby Magnet Middle School includes unique English Language Arts and Science courses along with specialty Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses that expose students to the Health Science fields of therapeutic services, diagnostic services, health informatics, support services and biotechnology research and development. Magnet students will be enrolled in multiple customized courses and will have enhanced opportunities to earn high school credit while still in middle school.

Hobby Magnet School is housed on the Hobby Middle School campus using a school-within-a-school model. Students will attend their specialty Health Science-focused English Language Arts (ELA), Science, and CTE courses in classrooms and labs including a mock hospital room and lab designed to enhance the collaboration and Project-Based Learning (PBL) experiences that are key aspects of this program. The remainder of the magnet studentsโ€™ schedules will benefit from the high-quality learning at Hobby Middle School, including access to a wide range of elective, extracurriculars, and athletics.
