First Grade
In first grade we are building a positive community of learners who make positive & responsible decisions, respectfully collaborate with one another, and strive to achieve their academic and personal social emotional goals.
Second Grade
Second to None!
Second Grade is a year full of growth! We will be thinkers, communicators, adventurers and scholars learning new concepts and understanding the world around us.
Third Grade
Welcome to 3rd Grade at Helotes Elementary! In third grade, we focus on educating the whole child. We believe that for our kids to reach their maximum potential, we can’t only focus on core subject areas. We want to create learning opportunities in the core subject areas that also allow students to communicate and collaborate, be critical thinkers, AND be creative! We do this by providing engaging hands-on experiences, incorporating technology, and differentiating instruction that allows for each student to grow and bloom as learners. We look forward to partnering with you throughout your child’s 3rd grade year.
Fourth Grade
Welcome to 4th grade - a GREAT year of GROWTH! This year we not only learn to be better readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and historians, but we strive to be dreamers, out of the box thinkers, innovators, good friends, and respectful and generous citizens. We look forward to joining your team in raising our amazing scholars!
Fifth Grade
In fifth grade, students are encouraged and expected to be more independent in their learning, and take more responsibility for organization and long-term planning. They will practice more complex mathematical concepts such as decimals, fractions, algebraic concepts and more. Students will read and understand new vocabulary in science and social studies as well as significantly improve their grammar skills. Students will build on what they learned in 4th grade by analyzing material in deeper ways, and writing structured, clear, and detailed pieces about a variety of subjects. In science and social studies, they will expand their knowledge about the earth and space, historical events and important historical figures. We look forward to growing your great fifth grader at Helotes Elementary!

At Helotes Elementary, we are committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment that empowers students of all abilities to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We believe in the potential of every student and celebrate every milestone, no matter how small, and provide the support and encouragement needed to overcome obstacles.
