Welcome to our Art webpage!
My name is Ms. Hernandez and I teach Art Kinder-5th Grade at Bonnie Ellison Elementary. This will be my ninth-year teaching Elementary Art. I am a graduate from The University of Texas at Austin. While at UT, I studied Art and earned a BFA in Visual Arts Education and BA in Studio Art with a concentration in Printmaking. When I'm not teaching, I love to paint and watch movies. I enjoy teaching because it is my passion; I believe that every student should be given the opportunity to explore their creativity. I strive to help my students become lifelong learners and have an appreciation for the Arts.

Schedule:
Ellison elementary has a 6-day rotation schedule which includes Art, Music, STEM, and P.E. Our students attend Art class one day out of the 6-day rotation for a 50 minute block. When in Art we will be actively engaged in hands-on Art activities each rotation day. During this school year you can expect your child to be learning about the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. We will explore various Art Mediums, which will include drawing, coloring, painting, printing and sculpture.

BEE Breaking News
The News Club will be composed of 3rd - 5th grade students. The students will have the opportunity to create video announcements that will be posted on our campus Youtube channel and links will be shared with Bonnie Ellison staff to showcase each morning. Students will be asked to create a script, recite the pledges, celebrate birthdays, film and edit daily announcements.
We meet on Tuesday mornings from 7:15 - 7:45 am. This club runs from September through May.
Busy BEE Art Club
The Art Club will be composed of 2nd-5th grade students. The students will have the opportunity to explore more challenging projects that are not taught in our daily art class. The students will create several art projects throughout the year both individually and collaboratively.
We meet on Wednesday mornings from 7:15 - 7:45 am. This club runs from October through March.
