The Tailgater Tiny Home draws a crowd at this Fall's Home and Garden Show in the Alamodome. Guests of the event stood in line to see the student-built project and were in awe of the abilities of the students' work. Our student ambassadors did a great job representating their school and themselves as they told show-goers about the program and the process of the build. Many times we hear the same thing, "I wish there was a program like this when I was in school", or "We need more schools like this"! CCA is a model campus for districts around the state who come to visit our campus to see how our program works. See more pictures here.

The Tailgater Tiny Home went out on its first trip of the school year to a contractors barbeque sponsored by Hart Lumber and Airtron. The house got a lot of attention from contractors and vendors; and great new connections with possible new partnerships were made. The students do a great job talking about our program and their involvement in the construction process to everyone who comes by. CCA will take the home out to several events this year as we build new partnerships and foster existing ones with the community. See more pics here.

Our annual "Academy Awards" ceremony had something special added this year. Students who earned internships for the summer had a signing ceremony with their new employers. Congressmen Castro was on hand for an encouraging word and celebrated all of our students for their accomplishments. Awards were handed out for our Pillars of Character, SkillsUSA winners, Tiny Home competition awards and Foremen of the Month. It's been another great year at CCA! Construction Careers Academy had our annual Tiny Home Showcase and Sale last weekend, May 19. Large crowds came out to see our students' work and imagine themselves living in a tiny space. Two homes were auctioned and sold, putting funds back into the program for next year's build, other student projects and scholarships for the students. Two more homes will be sold in the 2019 home showcase next year. For pictures of the event and the homes please click here.
