Construction Careers Academy was honored a year ago to be a recipient of one of several Impact San Antonio Grants. This month, we had the opportunity to showcase to the members of the organization the accomplishments our students are making with their generous gift. Part of the money is sponsoring one of our tiny homes, which we call the Impact Home, a Craftsman style themed home. Other improvements include upgrades to the welding and engineering programs, as well as to motor controls and alternative energy applications. A portion of the money will be used for industry certifications for students as they get ready to enter the workforce or college. See more pictures of the day here.

Each year our Architecture students participate in Confluence, a San Antonio Water System one-day summit held at the Witte Museum. Impact Team students explore, question, investigate and propose solutions to water issues while showcasing their projects. It's designed to explore the water issues facing San Antonio and to devise ways students can make a difference in their water futures. This year CCA teamed up with Alan Plummer Associates, Inc. to create a gray water system. See pictures of CCA's project and the event here.
