Zack Giffin stars as co-host of FYI's TV series, Tiny House Nation. Zack will join the CCA team on May 20th as a coach and guest speaker for this year’s CCA Tiny Home Showcase. Zack has agreed to lead a workshop on building tiny the week of the CCA Tiny Home Showcase events. FULL STORY HERE!

Over 200 Academy students, made up of juniors and seniors, participated in resume writing training. CCA partnered with industry personnel to provide resume training. Students received important tips, hints, do's and don'ts from industry professionals who screen and hire candidates on a daily basis. Students received a first-hand look at the importance of a quality resume. The training was part of the students preparation for this years mock interviews.

CCA partnered with Home Depot to showcase one of their Tiny Homes at the Home Depot Contractors Show. Home will be set up at the 5638 W. Loop 1604 North Home Depot location until March 26, 2017. Students will be available to meet with contractors and patrons to discuss their work on the project. The event will serve to highlight the outstanding accomplishments students in the Academy achieve day in and day out. Show your support, stop by.

On Friday, April 21, CCA students will participate in mock interviews. Students will be interviewed by industry professionals. Approximately 180 students will be interviewed. We need volunteers to help serve on interview panels. SIGN UP HERE!

CCA students visit Texas State University. Texas State rolled out the red carpet for CCA. Over 50 students took the trip. Students toured the campus, visited with university staff, and visited shops and classrooms. The trip was part of the Academy's ongoing efforts to expose students to the construction industry.

Students met with representatives from National Association for Women In Construction (NAWIC). Over 40 female students attended the conference hosted at CCA. Associates had lunch with the students and discussed pressing issues related to women in construction. Presenter Jennifer Parlett touched on Healthcare Architecture; Dana Calonge discussed the shortage in skilled trades; and Kirsten Olson addressed women in STEM.

The CCA 2017 Principal's Cabinet visited the San Antonio Panic Room as part of their annual team building initiative. The Principal's Cabinet is made up of 12 students that serve as the governing body for the students. The cabinet collaborates on campus initiatives, policy and procedure, and best practices. The team met at the San Antonio Panic Room to test their skills and build community amongst the team.

After weeks of studying the properties of quadrilaterals, Geometry in Construction students put their skills to the test. Students were challenged to design, build and fly their very own kite. Students spent the day competing to see who could fly their kite the highest. More pictures here!
