Our fifth grade team believes that students learn best when they feel included in their learning process. This comes from offering choice in the classroom and allowing students the chance to take ownership of their learning. Since we learn a lot of challenging math concepts in fifth grade, we incorporate many hands-on learning experiences for students with a variety of choice boards and manipulatives. Each year, students look forward to our science STEM projects such as building catapults and creating "submarines" that will stay suspended in water. We understand the importance of project-based learning in all subjects. Each year we love to create "Bottle Biographies" and introduce social studies concepts with "Windows on History". These are just a few of our research based projects that integrate multiple subjects throughout the year.
