Murray E. Boone
Murray E. Boone Elementary School was named in honor of Murray E. Boone, a dedicated educator who served for 36 years at various area schools before his retirement in 1969. Twenty-one of those years were spent within the Northside Independent School District.

Mr. Boone began teaching at Leon Valley Elementary in 1949 and later served as principal of Northside High School (now known as Marshall High School) from 1950 to 1953. He went on to become superintendent of the Northside Consolidated Rural High School District #1, which was renamed the Northside Independent School District in 1955, making him the districtโ€™s second superintendent.

Boone Elementary opened for the 1973-1974 school year, although students initially met at Leon Valley and Thunderbird Hills (now Powell Elementary) while awaiting the school buildingโ€™s completion. The doors officially opened on March 18, 1974. Mr. Boone passed away on January 1, 1996, leaving a lasting legacy in education.
