Namesake

The NISD Board of Trustees named the “Cielo Vista south area” elementary school for a communications trailblazer.  Bonnie Ellison Elementary School will open in August 2014.  It was funded by the voter-approved School Bond 2010. The school is located at 7132 Oak Drive off  IH10 West.

The NISD Board of Trustees named the “Cielo Vista south area” elementary school for a communications trailblazer.  Bonnie Ellison Elementary School will open in August 2014.  It was funded by the voter-approved School Bond 2010. The school is located at 7132 Oak Drive off  IH10 West.

Ellison established the nationally recognized School-Business-Community Partnerships Department and helped establish and lead the Northside Education Foundation. She was also the District’s first school public relations director. Ellison retired in December, 2012 following a stellar career that spanned 40 years.

July 28, 2014 - Stay informed about your Northside schools

While one-on-one communication is the best, in a District as large as Northside ISD it is sometimes difficult. Because we want our parents to stay informed, NISD has several ways that parents and other interested citizens can stay informed about the successes and challenges of San Antonio’s premier school district, as well as news about their children’s schools.

July 28, 2014 - 5,000 NISD children could miss out on first day of school because of missing shots

More than 5,000 students still need updated immunizations before the start of the school year. Northside ISD is enforcing its “No Shots, No School” policy, which means students who are not up-to-date on immunizations will not be allowed to attend classes when the 2014-15 school year begins on Aug. 25.

March 3, 2014 - We are the Bernal Black Knights!

It’s official! The students have voted and the Dr. Joe Bernal Middle School mascot will be the Black Knights. The school colors will be Black and Gold.
