BC Seniors Eric Casarez and Roberto Garza were recently notified that they have achieved National Commended Status through the National Merit Scholarship Program. This distinguished achievement is a result of these two young men achieving extraordinarily high PSAT scores. Eric and Roberto have scores in the top 5% nationally among the 1.5 million students who took the PSAT in 2014. They have also been recognized as National Hispanic Scholars!

A bill signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott this past month will require the state’s colleges and universities to give credit for scores of three or higher on many AP tests, which are graded on a five-point scale. This new policy ensures that students will receive the college credits that they earned as a result of their hard work in AP. Consequently, in the past thousands of students were unable to claim their earned credits due to the lack of a uniform policy among higher education institutions.
