The Secondary English Language Arts and Reading Department supports the district's mission in its commitment to the belief that children come first. Through curriculum, instruction, and professional staff development, this department strives to promote lifelong literacy and learning for all students.
In these courses, students will improve integrated critical reading and writing skills through engagement with a variety of texts across content areas and genres. As a result, students will be able to develop and express ideas clearly and effectively to communicate with various audiences for various purposes and occasions.
The coursework focuses on close reading and varied writing assignments, both formal (taken through the process) and informal.
