I hope you are able to attend our annual Meet the Teacher Event that is scheduled Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 4:30 to 6:30. This is a great time to meet your child’s teacher, drop off supplies, and get familiar with the classroom. We will be selling our new T-shirts and PTA will start their Membership Drive.
Daily attendance at school is so important to your child’s learning. We strongly encourage your child to come to school on time, every day. Students miss instruction even if they are only 10 minutes late to school.
The school day officially begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. Students arriving to campus after the 7:55 a.m. bell must sign in at the front office with a parent /guardian. If they arrive at 7:45—7:55 a.m. the teacher will mark the tardy in the classroom.
Please remember that parent drop-off and pick-up will take place in the parking lot on Medina Base Road. The parking lot on Ray Ellison is for Valley Hi and NISD employees and NISD busses. It is illegal to park behind a NISD bus or go around a bus when they are parked in the bus loop. For your safety and the safety of the students please do not enter the bus loop. Thank you for your support!
Throughout this school year, we have made changes to campus policies to increase the safety for our students. Recently we had a safety audit and our campus scored very well. We are so proud of our teachers and staff because they truly strive to provide your child with the safest education. However, we are making a few changes to help make our campus an even safer place for students. As always we are requiring that all staff members and all visitors must wear a name badge.
Effective immediately, there will be no parking allowed in the area beside the gym and close to the Head Start classroom. This was determined to be an unsafe parking practice by Shane Allard, the NISD Safety Officer. When you bring your students to school, you will need to park in the lot on Medina Base Road or the right side of the lot on Ray Ellison and escort your child to the Head Start classroom. We realize that this is a slight inconvenience, but is the best safety plan for our students. The gate at this area will be locked and only used for NISD Maintenance vehicles when they are
