Orienteering and Geocaching
Introduction to the NISD Orienteering Module. The Orienteering Module is designed to provide opportunities to develop the skills and knowledge of compass use and navigational skills required to successfully participate in outdoor adventures, like mountaineering, backpacking, hiking, and even traveling in downtown San Antonio. Also, instructor will show updated technology to be used with or without this module (geocaching). The unit will meet the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills Outdoor Adventure standards.

Cardio High Tech
The use of rowing machines, spin bikes, and elliptical machines will be reviewed for use with students. The module is designed to condition and monitor the fitness components of cardiovascular endurance and increase knowledge of training principles, prevention of coronary heart disease and the relationship towards overall wellness.

Outdoor Adventures - Angler Ed/Bowfishing
Become a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Angler Education Instructor. The Outdoors Tomorrow Foundation’s Outdoor Adventures curriculum utilizes the TPWD Angler Instructor course to give every teacher hands-on experiences with rods/reels, baits, tackle, casting techniques and helpful resources. In addition to the traditional angler unit, learn all about Explore Bowfishing program. Teachers will learn how to bowfish and teach students about water refraction and fish identification. Both programs will provide classroom activities to bring back to your P.E. program.

Introduction to Sport Stacking and Spikeball
Spikeball is an activity that can be used to teach and reinforce throwing, catching, striking, and volleying skills. During the Sport Stacking session the teachers will learn the basic sport stacking patterns. They will also be introduced to the new Speed Stacks curriculum which features over 20 fitness and physical based activities and games for elementary students

Human Trafficking and the Internet Connection
This session outlines threats to our youth via social media and includes discussion about children’s involvement in Sexting, Cyberbullying and Internet Predation. The presentation highlights how our children make themselves vulnerable and discuss real world incidents to emphasize the issue. Furthermore, it offers resources for reporting Human Trafficking so that the learners will leave with valuable information so they can report and help prevent child victimization by the use of technology.
