O'Connor Seniors have the opportunity to complete one of three tests during the school day on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Based on their post-high school plans and tests already taken, students will opt to sign up for either the SAT, the TSI, or the ASVAB. Here's a brief description of each one to help guide students' and parents' decisions. SAT: Students planning to attend a 4 year college or university should sign up for the SAT. This testing opportunity is being paid for through funds made available to NISD so there is no charge to students. TSI: Students planning on attending Northwest Vista College or any junior college should sign up to take the TSI. The TSI is necessary for enrollment unless students meet a certain score with their SAT. There will be an $5 charge for the TSI and O'Connor will fund the remaining $9 of the $14 fee. ASVAB: Students who have an interest in joining the military or who want to take advantage of the great career exploration tool included in the ASVAB should sign up for this test. It gives students insight regarding their aptitudes and interests and allows them to make post-secondary decisions with confidence and certainty. There is no charge for this test. All tests will be given beginning at 9 a.m. Oct. 16 while sophomores and juniors are taking the PSAT.
Students will sign up for one of the three tests during their senior conferences with their conselors this week. Parents can get additional information at Senior Parent Night on Thurs., Sept. 12th at 6:30 p.m. in the Ag Multi-Purpose building. Additionally parents can commit their students to the SAT test by completing this form and having their student drop it off in the Career Center. SAT Registration Form
