FLEX Begins Thursday Sept. 12; Offers Interventions, Enrichment, & Extensions

This Thursday, September 12th, students will begin participating in the FLEX program for their personal growth and to help achieve their goals. Remember, FLEX days are Tuesday and Thursday of each week. The past three weeks consisted of five training sessions to prepare students for the transition. By now, students should be able to log in to FLEXISCHED, view their scheduled session, and flag themselves to available sessions if they haven't been flagged by a teacher.  If you see a red checkmark on their schedule, that indicates the teacher listed has flagged the student to work with them. These sessions are created by our teachers to offer intervention, enrichment, and extensions. Students who haven't been flagged by a teacher for the next day's FLEX period have until 5 p.m. the day before to flag themselves to a session. Students who miss that cut-off and haven't been flagged by a teacher will be automatically assigned to an area for study time. In all areas attendance will be taken.  Students may access their schedule at anytime using FLEXISCHED and will receive an email reminder to their student email address at 8 am each FLEX day telling them where to report.  Please help your child by reminding them to use FLEXISCHED to flag themselves to an area that will benefit their individual needs. A link to the website can be found under Panther Alerts.  We encourage you to log in with your student so you're able to see what they will see.  For more information on how students flag themselves and the FLEX program, visit our FLEX website under “Students/Parents” on the O’Connor homepage.  Additionally they can talk to any teacher or stop by the Lunch Tutoring Center, B102 in the library, for assistance or if they are having trouble utilizing the system.  We are excited about the possibilities this program provides for our students, allowing them extra time to work in small groups with teachers, collaborate with classmates on projects, work on enrichment activities that are interesting to them, or study and get ahead on homework.  Please help us by encouraging your student to take full advantage of the extra 30 minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and make the most of this time our new schedule and this program provides.
