Scarborough demonstrates caring in Food4SA drive

December 18, 2015

Students at Scarborough ES demonstrated the Pillar of Caring when they donated 11,940 pounds of food to the San Antonio Food Bank. Their donation put them at the top of donations from elementary schools in the city. They were presented a check for $250 by the San Antonio Federal Credit Union (SSFCU) for being the top giving elementary school. The school then donated the check back to the San Antonio Food Bank.

“In honor of Scarborough Elementary, we would like to thank the Food Bank for the surprise gift of $250 for donating the most food and money for the 2015 annual campaign for Food 4 SA,” wrote the 5th grade Lighthouse Leaders. “In the spirit of Christmas, we would like to donate the check back to the Food Bank. We know this amount will supply 2,500 cans of food for hungry families this holiday season.”

“That’s just the Husky way,” says Principal Jeannine Keairnes. “I’m very proud of our students.”
